The Stellenbosch Wine Routes has thus been divided into 5 sub routes to make travelling along the route even more user friendly.These sub routes orginate from physical location and has no relation to the Wine of Origin system or any wards within the Stellenbosch region.

Cape Town Lion Park - Home of the "White Lions"

18 Lions arrived in our park on the early hours of 4th October 2009.

We are pleased to offer you a new tour experience. The Tour at Cape Town Lion Park consists of an Tour Guide Educational Documentary “THE FIRST IN THE WORLD” The Lions Circle of Life.

Learn about the Physiology . Hunting methods, and their Life as a Pride. Understand why the Lions Roar’s by night and early morning; and see a Lion’s scull, heart and brain, and feel there skin!!

This is followed by a guided tour to the Lion Enclosure, where you can view Lions at close quarters, and watch when we feed then. See the cubs and touch them!

There will be half hourly tours, start at 09h00 – till 17h00 (7days a week).

Cape Town Lion Park is situated on Vredenheim Wine Farm, (between Spier and Stellenbosch), R310 Vlottenburg road, Stellenbosch.

Giraffe House

The Giraffe House Wildlife Awareness Centre is a new, privately-owned centre providing easy access to some of our wonderful wildlife and bird species. Focusing mainly on African wildlife, Giraffe House aims to provide a place for people to enjoy a family picnic in the fresh air, whilst experiencing and learning about animals and conservation.

Daily animal shows are presented by Bryan Vorster (aka Snakebite Jones), offering the public a fun, educational and interactive encounter with the animals.

Villiera Wildlife Sanctuary

The Villiera Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in Koelenhof and access is gained through Villiera’s vineyards.

A game drive through the 175 hectares lasts approximately two hours. Visitors are guaranteed fantastic sightings of a diverse population of antelope, for example gemsbok, zebra, eland, springbuck, bontebok etc. as well as other small mammals and birds. On a clear day one has a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains overlooking the Cape Peninsula.

The cost of a game drive is R150-00. This includes a tasting of Villiera’s wines plus a self-conducted tour of the cellar.
