Guests will be welcomed with a glass of Lanzerac MCC and canapés and can spend the day savouring wholesome food whilst roaming between the newly renovated Manor Kitchen, Taphuis and Craven Lounge.

In the Manor Kitchen, guests will be treated to classic dishes reimagined with a modern twist and a feast featuring country style pork and chicken pâté with cauliflower piccalilli; scorched salmon gravadlax and an array of cheese platters that include savoury labneh cheesecake with Pinotage grape chutney; Boerenkaas cheese with whiskey orange marmalade; and gorgonzola wedges with seed crackers – amongst other delights.

The Craven Lounge will serve tapas style fare such as pancetta-wrapped grilled prawns with lemon aioli, smoky tomato ketchup and rocket; braai-seared sirloin with biltong spice, asparagus, mushroom pesto and chimichurri, along with peri-peri griddled octopus with smoked aubergine, lemon mayo and herb oil.

Those who stop by the Taphuis can enjoy Angus Ale beer and tasty gourmet style pub dishes, like walnut and pancetta wrapped bone marrow served with beetroot gel, white chocolate and celeriac mousse; BBQ skaapstertjies with apricot, chilli, mustard seed and chard lemon, as well as Cape spice and ginger beer-battered hake bites accompanied by crushed peas, coriander, beetroot atchar and lime mayo.

The soon-to-be-completed private dining venue will be showcasing the estates’ fine cuisine specialties, with epicurean options such as duck egg crème brûlée, comprising of aromatic crisp duck, with compressed apple salad, creamed feta and dark chocolate. The venue will also be serving golden grilled scallops with asparagus, radish, cauliflower mousse and lime essence, as well as braai-caramelised brisket of corned beef with horseradish, truffle pea, spiced onion and cabernet dressing.

There will also be a kids’ station serving cheese burger bites; hand-cut chip cones with tomato and stringy cheese sauce; gourmet roosterkoek with apricot; and mini boerewors rolls with tomato smoor.

In addition, Heritage Day revellers can enjoy their favourite Lanzerac wines and MCC in the luxurious outdoor wine lounge set up on the lush lawns, or artisanal gin from the pop-up bar in the Governors Hall.

Expect fresh, seasonal produce and great wine, along with mesmerising music from a cellist who will be performing from within a beautiful bubble beneath the magnificent mountains that ensconce the estate. Setting the tone for the event will be music from CODA Africa’s saxophonist, who will wander through the audience performing jazz standards, along with well-known contemporary numbers that will have attendees swaying in their seats or up on their feet dancing throughout the day. Plus, there will be a special photo wall where Instagrammers can snap memories of the occasion.

In the run up to the event, Lanzerac will be running a competition during the month of September with the prize up for grabs being four tickets to the Heritage Day event.
