desirable wine growing areas in the world. We are fortunate
to call Stellenbosch the capital of quality wine production
in South Africa our home...
When visiting other wine capitals of the
world, like Bordeaux and Burgundy, the passion for their
regions are underlined by what you are being offered to
drink at restaurants in the area. You will not find a wine
from Bordeaux on a Burgundy wine list, and vice versa. |

That is why the Stellenbosch Wine Route has taken
the initiative to reward restaurants who support local wines. We
have initiated a “Proudly Stellenbosch” campaign, where restaurants
who stock more than 75% local wines, has a reasonable corkage fee,
offer wines by the glass from our region, and promotes the region as
a whole, will be named as “Proudly Stellenbosch” and receive
branding for their menu’s, a sticker to be placed on their door and
receive coverage on the Wine Routes’ website and in the local paper
as recommended restaurants in the Stellenbosch area.
Stellenbosch is proud of its heritage and being
recognised as South Africa’s premier wine growing region. Look out
of the Proudly Stellenbosch logo on restaurant doors or wine lists
and remember: Think quality – drink (proudly) Stellenbosch!
